Day 2: Into the Cultural Triangle
Leaving the coast behind, you head into the heart of Sri Lanka’s "Cultural Triangle." Your primary stop today is the Dambulla Cave Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage site. This complex consists of five separate caves containing over 150 stunning Buddha statues and intricate murals that date back over 2,000 years. After exploring the caves, you will check into your hotel in the Dambulla or Sigiriya area for a relaxing evening. Your stay for the night is at Fresco Water Villa (or similar) on a Bed & Breakfast basis.
Day 3: The Ascent of the Lion Rock
Today is dedicated to one of Sri Lanka’s most iconic landmarks: Sigiriya Lion Rock. This ancient rock fortress rises 200 meters above the jungle and features the famous "Mirror Wall," colourful frescoes, and the massive stone lion paws at the entrance to the summit.
